Title: Promotion of Applied Integrated Practices and Technologies for Sustainable Industrial Wastewater Management in Three Watershed Areas in Palestine
Partners: BZU, PPU, IUG, IHE
Team:
Summary:
Conducting a highly complex development project pertinent to governance and management of industrial wastewater in Palestine by four project partners with 7 researchers and 19 students [6 MSc and 9 BSc level] is not an easy task. Therefore, few changes were made including replacement of one MSc student from IHE Delft by two researchers to carry on their share in the Activity A1. In addition, finding suitable date for workshop conduction considering attendance of IHE researchers [travel to Palestine] caused some delay in conduction of the planned workshops at BZU. Because of the late start of the researcher for the Activity [A2 & A3], the final baseline report on current industrial agrifood industries within the catchment area of Wadi Zaimer in Nablus District was not ready as planned and the findings envisaged to be integrated within the Activity [A3] were delayed. This has caused delays in finalizing the output of Activity [A2]. To resolve this issue, we have now taken on by engaging a graduated and talented M.Sc. student, which was selected among the best candidates received. The expert is a female considering the gender issues foreseen in this project. An MSc student from BZU has successfully develop her thesis concept during the 2nd semester 2018 within this activity. Task 6 regarding training sessions on the use of SimaPro for the use of cleaner production practices in industrial production of selective agrifood industries is postponed for 2019, this is because of waiting the outcomes of activities A1-3, so that a tailor-made training agenda will be prepared.
